California leads the way for sustainability in transportation
Establishing our headquarters in California was done with the knowledge that we would need to make environmental responsibility a top priority. According to a recent article “2018’s Greenest States”, California ranked 3rd in Eco-friendly behavior, 4th in climate change contributions and 9th in overall environmental quality.
California serves as a gateway and hub for international trade, worldwide and is the largest producer of agriculture in the USA. The 3rd largest state after Alaska and Texas, California ranks 1st with the largest population of 39.5 million people. The large geography and population density makes the movement of
goods critical in terms of jobs and the economy. The transportation challenges here have created great opportunities for Intact Freight to serve and grow in this robust environment.
California has been proactive in legislation to reduce their carbon footprint through the formation of the California Air Resources Board and Intact is 100% compliant with these legislations. Intact is also a participant in another eco-friendly initiative, and is a proud member of the SmartWay Transport Partnership program.
About the California Air Resources Board
“The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is charged with protecting the public from the harmful effects of air pollution and developing programs and actions to fight climate change. From requirements for clean cars and fuels to adopting innovative solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, California has pioneered a range of effective approaches that have set the standard for effective air and climate programs for the nation, and the world.”
About The SmartWay Transport Partnership
“Freight shippers, carriers, logistics companies and other stakeholders partner with EPA to measure, benchmark and improve logistics operations so they can reduce their environmental footprint. Launched in 2004, this voluntary public-private program provides a comprehensive and well-recognized system for tracking, documenting and sharing information about fuel use and freight emissions across supply chains. It also reduces freight transportation-related emissions by accelerating the use of advanced fuel-saving technologies.”
